Mullis & Peake delighted to continue working with Marillac Neurological Care Centre
Mullis and Peake are delighted to announce that we will be supporting the Marillac Neurological Care Centre as our Charity of the Year, for the second year.
Last year we were pleased to have raised money and awareness for the charity with Christmas raffle, Easter raffle, a race night, wine tasting evening and afternoon tea, amongst other fundraising initiatives. We also visited the centre and held a volunteering day where we decorated Christmas trees and wrapped presents for the residents.
The Marillac Neurological Care Centre
The Marillac Neurological Care Centre provides long-term care and specialist rehabilitation for people with complex or profound disability following traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury or progressive neurological conditions. Their 52 residents are adapting to an uncertain future, relearning what they can achieve and resetting their life goals.
Sadly, every 90 seconds someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with a brain injury (a result of strokes, falls, traffic accidents, assaults, tumours, or infections). It only takes a few seconds for a life to be completely knocked off course. Brain injuries can have devastating, life-long effects on anyone.
The centre provides holistic care that encompasses medical, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech & language therapy, plus nutritional, psychological, recreational, and pastoral care.
Their therapeutic offering aims to enhance quality of life, promote independence and ultimately ensure a safe transition back into the community. The activities programme is designed to contribute to resident sense of choice, wellbeing, and fulfilment.
