Reminiscence Group at Havering Museum
This year, Mullis & Peake LLP Solicitors are thrilled to continue to sponsor Havering Museum’s Reminiscence Group.
The Reminiscence Group is a fantastic cause that supports elderly people, giving them the opportunity to meet with likeminded people in the area. The group meets once a week to discuss topics from their younger years. Topics can include anything from ‘Transport in Havering’ and ‘Bygone Rainham’ to ‘Musical’ and ‘Royal Weddings’. Manzurul Islam from the Wills and Probate team and Jo Briton visited on 14th March when they were discussing Collectables and Family Treasures. Jo took along some Maundy Money to show the group, which she received from her grandpa.
Havering Museum set up this group as a way to combat loneliness that is often felt by the older generations and to create friendships between people in the local area. Currently, there are 25 to 35 regulars who attend each week to share their memories and to reminisce.
Each of the two-hour sessions cost £3 to attend, however, the costs of planning and running these meetings are significantly higher. Mullis & Peake’s donation will allow the group to keep running.
